Shopify App Detector

Paste a Shopify store's address to see the apps it uses, grouped by category: email and SMS, customer reviews, loyalty, chat, subscriptions, search and many more.

How the detector works

Most Shopify apps add a script to the store to work: a sign-up form, reviews under products, a chat bubble. The tool reads the store's homepage and looks for the signature of more than 120 known apps.

The apps found are grouped by category, so you can see at a glance how the store handles email, reviews, loyalty or customer support. Each name links to the app on the Shopify App Store.

No personal data is collected: only the store's public page is read, and the result is kept in memory for a day to go faster.

How to see which apps a Shopify store uses manually

You can also look by hand, on a computer: open the store, right-click and choose "View page source", then search the code (Ctrl+F) for app names or for the addresses of the scripts the store loads. Many apps load a file whose address contains their name.

It works, but it takes time and you need to recognize each app's signature. The detector does the same reading automatically and compares the code with the signatures of more than 120 known apps.

What to look at in a competitor's apps

  • Email and SMS: how the brand collects contacts and follows up with its customers.
  • Reviews: which tool displays its customer reviews and photos.
  • Loyalty and subscriptions: how it gets customers to order again.
  • Chat and support: how customers can ask a question before buying.
  • Community: whether customers have a space on the store to talk to each other.

Before installing the same apps

  • An app that works for a large brand isn't always suited to a smaller store: check the pricing on its App Store page.
  • Each app adds code to your store: install only what you will really use, and remove apps you have stopped using.
  • Read recent reviews on the Shopify App Store and test with a free plan or a trial when one exists.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find out what apps a Shopify store is using?

Paste the store's address in the detector above: it lists the apps it recognizes, grouped by category, with a link to each one on the Shopify App Store. Apps that add nothing visible to the store cannot be detected.

Why don't some apps show up?

An app that only works inside the Shopify admin (accounting, inventory, exports) adds nothing visible to the store, so no tool can detect it. Some apps also load only on product or cart pages.

Does the detector work on every store?

It works on the vast majority of Shopify stores. Headless stores (a site separate from Shopify), password-protected stores or stores with strict bot protection may not be analyzed.

How do I add a community to my Shopify store?

Insider Club adds a forum to your store, built into your theme: logged-in customers are automatically members, with no extra password and no code.
