Customer support cost savings calculator
Sizing, shipping, how-to: many tickets come up again and again. Estimate what you save when customers find the answer in your community instead of writing to you.
Estimated savings
How the calculation works
The calculation starts from your monthly tickets, keeps only the repetitive questions, then applies the share the community can resolve: a customer who already asked, an answer already published, an experienced member replying on your behalf.
Hours freed are the tickets avoided multiplied by the average handling time. Multiplied by the hourly cost, they give your savings in dollars.
Every setting can be changed: start with conservative assumptions, then adjust them with your own figures after a few weeks of community activity.
Frequently asked questions
What share of tickets can a community absorb?
It depends on your catalog and how active the forum is. We recommend starting with 10 to 20% of repetitive questions in the first months, then measuring: brands whose products raise many how-to questions often exceed that figure.
How do I find my share of repetitive questions?
Sort your last 50 tickets by topic. Sizing, shipping, returns, usage and care usually make up a large share of requests: these are the ones a public answer can handle once and for all.
Does a community replace customer support?
No, it complements it. Personal requests (orders, refunds, accounts) are still handled by your team. The community takes care of general questions and frees up time for the cases that really matter.
